Which Style of Kung Fu is The Best?
Some claim that there are approximately three to six hundred different Kung Fu styles in existence. So which one is the best? In China, many techniques and weapons were invented to meet special needs and times. Many Chinese masters added their own favorite movements, to an already existing system, just to call it their own. Fathers passed their knowledge discreetly to selected members of the family. Due to different personalities, interpretation of the movements, environmental and societal differences, the inherited systems were often changed; Thus, creating a variety of styles.
Some styles came about naturally, for example, when northern masters moved south, they had to change their styles to blend with the land. Not all men are created equal. Some people are stronger, some are more agile, some are taller, some are shorter. One style may be well suited for a person but extremely difficult for another, so man created styles to match their own physical structure. So when the question is asked; “Which style of Kung Fu is the best?” This question would be impossible to answer because there is no “best” system of Kung Fu. They all have their weaknesses and strong points, because man is not perfect.
But you could ask; “Which style of Kung Fu would be best for me?” To answer this question one must assess his own physique and capabilities. Then he should find the proper system most suited to his body type and personality. It would then be safe to say, that the style does not make the man, but man makes the style. So don’t be a prisoner of your style.
