The Sickle
This farmer's tool had a curved, metal head, sharp on one edge and attached to a wooden handle. It was originally designed for cutting hay, cane, or straw. Hooking, cutting and striking were common techniques for the sickle. Rarely, the sickle was held by a chain attached to the handle and thrown. This is the brother of the Japanese kama.
